Richard Sanders
Rich is a retired healthcare attorney who represented a variety of corporate clients and healthcare providers on a broad range of issues, including fraud and abuse compliance (Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark), HIPAA privacy issues, Medicare reimbursement, antitrust policy, legislative activities, and assisting businesses in their relationships with federal and state regulatory agencies. At HDS, Rich develops strategic plans, leads board retreats, advises clients in corporate and regulatory compliance, and serves as a compliance and privacy officer. Rich has served as President of the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys, has been named to The Best Lawyers in America for Healthcare since 2010, and has earned an “AV+” rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
Rich wrote his first book, The Christian Capitalist, which reached #1 Best Seller status on Amazon within one day of its launch in July 2024! In it, he encourages people at all levels of the economy to work hard and give generously to the poor and needy. As part of the process of writing and publishing the book, Rich started a media company called GoodWorks Mission, which publishes inspirational books and other materials to encourage people to love their neighbors and perform good works in their communities. GoodWorks Mission’s second book, You Are a Child of God, reached #1 Best Seller status on Amazon in December 2024.
After graduating from Duke University in 1992 with a double major in political science and history, Rich earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Emory University School of Law in 1996. Rich served on the adjunct faculty at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and taught courses in business and regulatory law. He was awarded Professor of the Year in 2004 and 2023. Rich is a former intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, where he worked with an Atlanta-based unit supporting the U.S. Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy. In 2015, he graduated from the Candler School of Theology with a Master’s Degree in Divinity. He is an ordained Episcopal pastor and is the founder of Online Home Church.
