Medical cannabis laws are rapidly changing both at the federal and state level. However, policies and sentiments surrounding medical cannabis have not evolved at the same pace. This conversation will highlight the legal changes that have occurred thus far and what questions are still left unanswered. It will also provide an overview of how the program functions in Georgia, how patients become registered, and key differences in Georgia’s program as opposed to other states.

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Identify recent federal and state-level legal and regulatory changes related to medical cannabis and recognize key questions that remain unresolved.
  • Describe how Georgia’s medical cannabis program operates, including patient registration requirements and key differences between Georgia’s program and those of other states.

The Georgia Hospital Association Research & Education Foundation is an approved provider of nursing home administrator credits as a professional trade association in long term care under Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 393-13-.02, (1) (a). Approved for 1 contact hour.
