Session Title: Through the Maze: Navigating Employment Law Hot Topics
Speaker: Vathana Sivanesan, OneDigital, Senior HR Consulting Counsel
Speaker Bio: Vathana brings to OneDigital a solid legal background and understanding of an employer’s needs. Admitted to the Oregon and Georgia state bars, she has practiced law exclusively as in-house counsel. Her in-house experience included providing legal advice in a variety of industries, and her practice areas covered contract law, intellectual property, corporate maintenance and governance, asset purchases, licensing and regulatory matters, and, of course, employment law.
At OneDigital, Vathana joins the national HR Consulting Compliance Team advising and providing support to HR Consultants across the country. Although she does not provide legal advice to clients in her current role, Vathana assists OneDigital’s consultants supporting clients in areas such as critical consulting, compliance, and training.
Session Description: With a myriad of recent developments in employment legislation and regulations, it is easy to get lost in the maze. HR departments are responsible for navigating competing challenges daily and need a roadmap of what to prioritize. Join us in learning about what HR leaders should be paying attention to and what may be coming ahead. We will cover hot topics like pregnancy and breastfeeding accommodations, the intersection of FMLA and ADA, overtime rules, the One Big Beautiful Bill, and others.
